The 100% man

The 100% man

  With the peleton complaining
             grown men are in tears
   Their heart rate racing
             betraying their fears,
   The JFR boys muse
            of their health concerns
   As rounding last Bobbo corner
            the 100% man turns.

They say today’s fifty is really
            A bygones forty
   But what manifestation
            for one oh so naughty,
   A liver of life
            he has high ideals
   He’s not all that shy
Listen up! he’ll say what he feels.

  He’s aging like a wine
            improving in taste
   Or will grumpiness grow
            in line with his haste?
   Will his directness continue
            to taunt our town
Or will his humour grow barren
              just like his crown?

  W hat’s this 100% man?
              How silly are you
   Just ask any JFR rider
Cause he’s out front paying his due,
it’s over, we’ve crested the col
               Slow down, time to rest
   No not him
              Bobbo’s 10min barrier he’s to test.

  Now take it from me
Training buddies are hard to find
They come n go forget the day
              But not this bugger
He’s there, he’s commited, he leads the way,
First it was riding 3 days a week
   Now its full time tristars
              It’s not for the meek.

He came to this new land
              With Family in tow
  but why was the howl
                they all did go,
  It hasn’t been easy
                sometimes tough
  There faith ever stronger
Now many friends to kid and bluff.

 Thursday scriptures in a group
Obey your man he doth chime,
   Not today honey
              Now give me that wine
   Christian values they have instilled
               For Jarryd, Kim and Jess
   But don’t mention the engagement
              It could be a mess

  An Australian family
              You could now say
   Rottie Hill, Asquith Leagues
              They do play,
‘were all going on a summer holiday’
               Golden oldies enjoying most,
  Fleetwood Mac, Cliff Richard
               They do boast.

 The lady of the house
              Yvonne’s no pushover either
   Done the Argus, does Noosa
Full of Energy not taking a breather,
   Got weddings to plan
               Not a moments rest,
  Look out Jarryd, Jess
               She’s expecting the best.

So hurrah for these two yappies
             fifty in years
   courageous with attitude
             in laughter and tears,
   Lastly a personal word
              To the 100% man
   I’m honoured, we’re privileged
You’re the best mate one can.

                        31 May 2008. Clive & Bruce
